Being a Drip

The neighbours would have had a bit of a laugh at my expense if they looked out their windows this morning! I planned on taking photos of some flowers ma got for her birthday, and took them outside to get some natural light when the twinkling of dew drops in the grass caught my eye. So out comes the macro!! :) So here I am in the wet crass on my knees and elbows trying to get some half decent shots. And I'd like to think the muddy skirt and arms were worth it! How often do you stop and actually take notice of the tiny dew drops in the morning- particularly with these cool winter mornings? They are perfectly round- beautiful!! There's one you'll see sitting on a blade of grass that looks just like a bubble!!

Moondance

Well, it's a marvelous night for a Moondance
With the stars up above in your eyes
A fantabulous night to make romance
'Neath the cover of October skies...

Well, it's not October, but it is definitely a marvelous night for a moondance! While it's still a bit chilly, its not as cold as it was this time last week. But the moon is superb! This is the first time any of my photos of the moon have actually worked out, and I must say, I love them!! What do you think??! Don't forget to check them out in better quality HERE

Birds of Noosa- the feathered kind

Living in the Tewantin/Noosa area, many consider us lucky to be amid a huge array of wild birds. I mean, you even see real estates advertising places as 'a bird watchers dream' and a 'bird haven' as a selling/renting point. I wonder how long these avid bird watchers enjoy being woken by screeching cockatoos and lorrikeets at any time from 1 in the morning onwards. Or trying to get young ones (or even themselves!!) down for an afternoon nap only to hear the crows cawing all afternoon. But I guess if you can put up with that (I love my sleep a LOT though...) then we really are quite lucky to have so many species of birds right at our doorstep! I've already posted quite a few photos of  Percy the Pelican, and there are a few other bird photos scattered throughout my blog. But today's Daily Dose are a few of the leftovers that haven't made it through yet!

Winter is HERE!

Today was the COLDEST DAY IN JUNE ON RECORD! Right now it's 11 degrees Celsius, and dropping. Tomorrow's gonna be fun riding to work at the crack of dawn! It got me thinking, it really wasn't all that long ago when everyone was complaining about how HOT it was. I dug through some older photos and found the these one of the kids (and our neighbour) playing with the sprinkler. It really won't be that long until we'll be out there again!

A Noosa Evening

Sunday night, we had a STUNNING sunset- it was yucky and overcast all day, but for about 10 minutes, the clouds became almost blood red! Of course I was without my camera. The weather today was much like that on Sunday, so I was hoping for a repeat sunset. No such luck. But it was still a peaceful evening in Noosa

Mooloolaba Beach

After our big bush walk through the Buderim Rain forest yesterday, we stopped at Mooloolaba and took the kids down to the rock pools. We really have to go again, the kids could have easily spent hours there, but it was getting late, and JBV had to work. Plus I'd love to get some macro shots of all the snails, hermit crabs, shells, coral bits and barnacle thingies! The surf was pretty good, and there were a lot of 'mature' surfers really going to town at it! It was a very overcast afternoon, so there was no one apart from the few surfers around, so it was extremely peaceful! My favourite was watching the big tankers go by, especially when looking through my big zoom! A great way to end a lovely day with my family. Buderim Waterfall

Romance often begins by a splashing waterfall and ends over a leaky sink

Family trip to Buderim today, to see the waterfalls. I went there years ago with school or something, but couldn't remember any waterfalls! I'm guessing I was too busy bitching about all the walking they were making us do! The kids were actually pretty excited to go too, which made a nice change! We cheated, and started from Quorn Close- the END of the walking trail, where the waterfall was only a few hundred metres away. Master J loved it- he was off and running, and many times we had to tell him to stop and wait for us. Miss K is not too fond of walking, but did well, and actually managed to walk the entire trip herself! Poor JBV was lumbered with all my camera gear, tripod and water bottles- I knew I bought him for a reason! Bit of a walk/climb (especially in my Doc Marten boots- I rode the motorbike down), but I've got a few photos of the falls to share. They're nothing spectacular, and it's my first attempt at photographing waterfalls, but I think some of them turned out alright!
