So we've been to the Brisbane airport and been plane watching. JBV is looking a bit disappointed at this stage- its 1:30 in the afternoon and he has to be at work back home in Noosa at 5, and all we've done is gone somewhere for me to take photos! JBV said he was fine, he had a great time just being with me. Ha! We'd heard from other people plane watching that the cruise ship was in dock, so we went to check it out. Again, just for me to take some photos! Once we left there, I got JBV to give me directions from the iphone to our motel. As we pulled in, he still had no idea what was going on- and then I told him I'd got him the night off work! Talk about over the moon! We stayed at the at "The Point" on Kangaroo point- and while JBV thinks this was all done for him- I actually booked this particular room because of the city views.... :) We had Sparkling wine and a cheese platter waiting for us, headed down to the bar and drank cocktails, and ate at the restaurant- the only ones there! The next morning we had a full buffet breakfast, and went over to DFO (direct Factory Outlet) where I did a bit of shopping! Nanny met us there with the kids, and we headed home. I hadn't seen the kids in 4 days, and I'd actually really been missing them! Until about 10 minutes into the drive home.... yep, back to reality!

Weekend Getaway- The Plane! The Plane!
Yep, I'm going to do it again- drag out my photos to get a couple of posts out of them! In all fairness, these were taken over a couple of days! Its been quite some time since my last post, but I have some good excuses (what's new??). The biggest excuse though is our little trip away (just because this is entitled "The Plane! The Plane! doesn't mean we actually flew anywhere though!!). Nanny had the kids for a few days in Brisbane with her- they went to Disney on Ice and visited family all over the area (including Uncle Johns dogs- which Master J says he never wants to see again because that's all Miss K wanted to do!). But I thought I would organise some time away for JBV and myself- because that's just the kind of nice, loving fiance I am! ;) And, I thought it would be a good excuse to get some photos! I organised Saturday night off for JBV without him knowing, snuck some spare clothes into a suitcase, and we hit the road! Our destination- Brisbane Airport viewing area!! I found this area while picking Master J and Ma up a few months ago from the airport. Its unreal! You're so close to the planes taking off and landing- I love the raw power of the engines revving up and then letting loose for takeoff! I was acting like a little kid- especially when the pilot was waving to us from his cockpit!! ;) This is just a very small sample of all the photos I took. We saw so many different planes from all over the world in many different sizes! A formula 1 ETIHAD (from Abu Dahbi..??), Air Pacific (Fiji), Air New Zealand (ummm....from New Zealand??lol) and of course the regular Qantas, Virgin Blue and Jet Star. But there were also some 'special' paint jobs, including the Virgin Blue AFL plane, and the Jet Star Powderfinger plane- painted in celebration of their final Sunsets tour, which they played on for several charities. But my favourite? The HUGE Qantas plane that taxied out just before we left! This thing was gigantic! And sounded beautiful! You could hear the difference between all of the Qantas planes compared to the cheaper planes like Jet Star- a bit alarming really! But this was the start of our trip away, and JBV had no idea what was coming!

Gympie Duck Ponds
Here they are, as promised! Lol. After our trip to check out the rock pools, we headed home through Gympie so we could stop to feed the ducks. This is something I used to do with Granny and Poppy when I was a little girl! We would make a day out of it, and it was always an exciting trip!! So we took some old rolls and bread with us, and the kids loved it. There were all sorts of ducks, swans, geese, water hens, ibis and corellas. There was even a nest of eggs, as well as a very quick fly through from a stunning blue kingfisher (which I of course missed with the camera!) So I think I may have gone a little bird crazy with my photos anyway! Once we'd finished feeding the birds, the kids spent some time on the new awesome park they have recently opened there! We even briefly caught up with an old friend there. It was a great way to end a great day with the family!

Learning to Crawl
I was planning on posting some photos from our trip the other day, when we ended up at the Duck Ponds in Gympie. And I will get to it one day, just not today. It's getting late, and I'm freaking out about starting my next rotation at the hospital tomorrow, so I thought I'd better get to bed now, so that I might get a couple of hours sleep! Earlier today however, I was going through all these old photos and vids, and I came across this one, that never fails to make me laugh! This is how we taught Miss K to crawl- by teasing her with Easter eggs! Make sure you've got your sound turned up to hear the frustration!! :)

Mothar Mountain Rock Pools
A friend told JBV about the Mothar Mountain Rock pools a couple of weeks ago, and we've been meaning to get up there ever since. Only about "30 minutes" from Noosa she says. I've been to Mothar Mt speedway before, and was pretty sure the trip was going to be a little longer, but according to this woman, if we took the "shortcut" (an old dirt track in the 4WD) it was going to be a much quicker trip. An hour later, we finally pulled up at the Rock pools. We weren't worried, getting there was half the fun- the kids had never been on anything like the small, wooden, single lane bridges before! And then there was the big old Bull with huge horns standing on the side of the road (dirt track)- on the wrong side of the fence- just staring at us as we went around it. The kids thought it was going to charge us! (truth be known, I was a bit nervous myself! lol). Its a nice little spot, with picnic tables and a wood fired BBQ. We were told the place was always deserted- but remembering this was from the same mouth who told us it was a 20 to 30 minute trip- there were actually quite a lot of day trippers exploring the area! I guess our informant has told a lot of people about this "secluded" and "deserted" spot....! But the kids loved it! It was obviously way too cold for swimming (I reckon it'd still be way too cold for swimming in the middle of Summer) but we did some exploring, and had our little picnic before heading to the Gympie duck ponds...

My Boy
My poor boy has been sick for almost a week! The temperature and the coughing- but lots of sleeping and cuddles too! I feel kinda bad- we thought he was putting it on because he got sick the day before sports day at school. Don't get me wrong- he's great at all sports, and enjoys them once he gets going- it's just getting him going that's the problem! He gets so nervous about these sort of things. So I thought he might have been chucking a sickie to get out of sports day. And then he fell asleep all day. And then the temperature set in. And he's had it ever since! He's recently shared it with his sister as well- which isn't all bad- it's the quietest she's ever been!! ;) lol. No, my poor babies! So between the 2 kids and work, taking any interesting new photos has been out of the question. So I went through some of my older unedited photos, and played around with them for something to do tonight after the kids crashed out. Without realising it, most of them have been with Master J in them. So todays blog is dedicated to my perfect little man!!
