Kite Surf- Noosa

The sun is out, and summer is definitely trying to make a come back. Lazy days beside the pool and down the beach aren't far away! But it wasn't that long ago when the weather was cold and very wet- and important to some windy. While many of us stayed wrapped up indoors, there were a few braving the elements- in fact- actually embracing the elements! These guys (and gals) had perfect conditions for some great acrobatics- and there were a lot of people enjoying the show!

This Beautiful Place We Live

I was talking to a friend this morning who is living in Valparaiso, Chile for a while (one of the most beautiful, photo worthy places on the planet!!)  with her husband and young family, and she said that while they were all having a great time, she was missing our beautiful country. It got me thinking- we really do live in a beautiful place, and I'm sure many of us take it for granted! So I flicked (well clicked really) through some of my old photos, and put together a collection of some of SE Qld's beautiful places- Hope you enjoy! :)

Mooloolaba Beach

The cure for anything is salt water -- sweat, tears, or the sea.

After our big bush walk through the Buderim Rain forest yesterday, we stopped at Mooloolaba and took the kids down to the rock pools. We really have to go again, the kids could have easily spent hours there, but it was getting late, and JBV had to work. Plus I'd love to get some macro shots of all the snails, hermit crabs, shells, coral bits and barnacle thingies! The surf was pretty good, and there were a lot of 'mature' surfers really going to town at it! It was a very overcast afternoon, so there was no one apart from the few surfers around, so it was extremely peaceful! My favourite was watching the big tankers go by, especially when looking through my big zoom! A great way to end a lovely day with my family. A Swell Way To Pass the Afternoon

Yesterday we went for a small walk through National Park. But we spent a lot of time just sitting at first point watching the surfers. Surfing has never interested me, but I wanted to have a go at shooting these blokes way out with my new zoom lens. But watching these guys for over an hour was amazing. They were all really good, but there were a couple that really stuck out and were gnarly. Do we still use the word gnarly? Anyway, these guys were awesome- 'dropping in', 'hanging ten' and "carvin' it up"!! ;) It's something I'm definitely going to do again (spectate that is) and maybe one day even give it a go!
